I really want to sell my Impreza wagon and build one of these.  Like the added capacity and suspension clearance.

Sherwood T95 PL-33 Custom Leg pads

Posted in Hockey with tags , , , , , , on January 25, 2012 by srsbzns

My custom order from GoalieMonkey arrived today about 2 weeks earlier than was projected.  I just want to take a moment and rave about the Customer service at the two GoalieMonkey stores I have dealt with now.  The first being the new Norwood Mass. store where I ordered my T-100 glove and the second being the internet/CA store.  I worked with Rob and Ryan on this order and I can’t say enough about how helpful those guys were in keeping me in the loop and  helping me decide what I wanted to do.

I ordered 34+2 sizing, white with black and silver weave (silver weave was not an option but i got it anyway), PL-33 graphic, black pad backs with white wings and calf guard (not regularly offered via Sherwood order form), Black Sherwood logos with silver t95 logo (not regularly offered through Sherwood), all leather straps in white and the only thing I wanted but Sherwood wouldn’t do was add the T-100 sliding toe bridge. So I think I’m just going to order some of the AR sliding toe bridges I have used before.

These are just first impressions but these are super light probably a pound or so lighter than my current 9400 Vaughn Visions.  They have a single external roll break and then two internal breaks but the main piece of foam is solid through and through. I’m curious to how well the will hold and s shape. My guess is also the rebound off of the faces and the boots will be huge, much further out than the visions.

The only two things I’m not 100% on is the material for the knee cradle strap and the leg cradle strap. It’s just a strip of stretchy velcro material that i know will lose its elasticity way to quickly so that may be the first mod the pads see.  I’ll probably install something a little beefier or just remove them all together because with the position of the leather strapping i don’t really need them at all.  My other beef is the leather strap for the skate is way to long and the top 2 are way to short.  It’s not an issue so far as the very very last hole seems to work for the knee strap or I feel I could just remove it all together and be super comfy still.  As always i tried the thigh wrap and it sucked so I swapped in my Reebok Revoke Pro Knee thigh guards.  First skate in them will be an open adult on friday so i get to do  a lot of tinkering.

A while ago I posted this car in a nicely taken picture, well the nicely done theme surrounding this car continues with this nice video.  Literally just some very basic rig shots and set to some decent level headed music (no gangster rap or anything stupid). Enjoy

Tim Thomas: Super Star and Model AMERICAN

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on January 24, 2012 by srsbzns

Tim Thomas respectfully declined attending the White Houses late honoring of the Boston Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup Championship.  Now it seems the whole hockey world is on his nuts for “abandoning” his team and “disrespecting” his country.  I think that is a complete load of bull shit.  I have 10x the respect for Tim Thomas now than I ever have.  The man stuck to his beliefs and made a decision to  show where he stands and to also stick up for the people who don’t get this chance.  To me Thomas’ decision makes him a hero to the average American.

This had nothing to do with politics or part affiliation either.  He is not backing some front-runner for the next election as you can see in a statement he made on facebook “the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties and Property of the People.”   And the man is right.  Not only does he believe in what he just said anyone who knows him knows his mask bears the famous phrase from the beginning of our country and the Gadsden flag “DON”T TREAD ON ME”.  Thomas isn’t blowing this up and out of proportion like the media. He made one first and final statement:

“I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People.

“This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.

“Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.

“This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT”.

Those who are currently criticizing Thomas’ decision are whats wrong with this country now.  You are there for your country and for your fellow-man you are there for your party and its money and power.  This country was built on the backs of the working men and women toiling for what we wanted.  They fought the wars and in the beginning it was those men who made extraordinary sacrifices and managed great feats to lead us to victory that had the honor of guiding us as a whole and shaping our nation.  Now who are these goons, its come down to who has the most money and sucks off the biggest corporations, who has the lowest golf score and spits the most venomous candied lies to sway the masses towards the dreams of a better tomorrow.  Our blood sweat and tears build their thrones and fills their jewel encrusted chalices.

Planning to replace the 18′s on the rear of the lexus with 20′s.  Was hoping I’d be able to pull out a bunch of camber but doesnt look too promising.

Or there is this set up which is a touch taller than stock by about .5″ but gets more tire on the rim

New Aquisitions

Here are three of my newest pick ups hockey equipment wise

Eddy Jonas Hiller Custom Kevlar Helmet:  Can’t say enough good things about this helmet.  Its a good deal lighter and smaller in over all design than my Eddy Leroc which I loved.  It has the “long Chin” design so it seals up with my C/A quite well and protects my throat without needing one of those annoying plastic danglers.  your face sits very far forward in the helmet so the visibility is probably the best i have ever had.  This is a great sub $500 helmet.

Sherwood T100 Catcher:

This is the catcher I had ordered and posted a video about in a previous post.  Feels like its going to be a great glove.  The pro palm in it though is really going to need some work in order to get that nice broken in closure.  I have one complaint, the PL-33 graphic that is sewn on the front of the glove is two layers of jenpro and it runs right through the break of the glove and I really think that is currently until broken in more impedes closure

Reebok Larcenary Blocker

Not much to say here but its a great light weight cheap blocker which actually has a ton of protection that unlike the Vaughn Vision 9400 blocker i just recently bought doesn’t get in the way of stick handling
